It’s nearly July, which means it’s nearly time for Camp NaNo!
Now, I love NaNoWriMo in all its forms. I love the community, I love the deadline, and I generally have a fantastic time, whether I hit my word goal or not.
Today I bought my supplies for Camp.
I’m going to be hand writing this time ’round. Hand writing, for me, is often the best way to get through the first draft. It’s how I do most of my planning, at the very least. While it can be frustrating, because I can’t always write as quickly as my brain can think, it forces me to slow down and really think about what I’m writing.
It also means that typing it up counts as my first round of edits. It reminds me of the story and gives me a chance to pick up on anything that feels off from that first read through. I can also fix those pesky spelling and grammar issues that come up.
I’ve got some nice narrow ruled paper, which I prefer to the wide ruled they do. 600 pages of it, to be exact. Probably more than I need, but the pads were on offer. I also have a nice, red ring binder for all of it to go in. I’ve actually decided to code this story in dark green in my planning, but they didn’t have any dark green folders, and the red was the nicest they had.
As to what I’ll be writing for Camp, I plan to make a post about that before the month is out. But it’s fantasy, and suffice to say, I’m super excited about it.
Are you taking part in Camp? If so, what are you writing, and how?
